Celebration : Goldner String Quartet & Composers of the Sydney Conservatorium
Our 30th and Final Concert Season appropriately begins and ends in Sydney.
This concert, our first for 2024, celebrates the Goldners very fruitful relationship with many of Australia’s leading composers who also have a connection to the Sydney Conservatorium and Sydney University; names such as Peter Sculthorpe, Ross Edwards, Carl Vine, Matthew Hindson, and Paul Stanhope among others.
The Program will feature selected movements from their works, spanning the last 30 years, and will conclude with selections from the Goldner Variations (which celebrates 30 Australian composers’ variations) on Beethoven’s theme, Ode to Joy. This performance will include the World Premieres of 5 short new Variations from current composition students at the Con, selected as the result of a competition, and will give a fascinating glimpse into the future of composition in Australia.
